There has been strong opposition to Pakistani artists in India following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has demanded a complete ban on Pakistani artists working in India.
The federation has also issued a warning that if any Indian citizen works with them, a charge of treason will be filed against them.
Speaking to ANI, FWICE General Secretary Ashok Dubey said, “This is a matter of national interest, and the country comes first. The continuous attacks, including the recent assault on our tourists in Pahalgam, are extremely shameful. We have issued another press release in which it is clearly stated that if any of our members is found working with Pakistani artists or technicians, we will take action against them and stop working with them.”
According to Dubey, a letter has also been written to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, urging them to issue a notice stating that if any Indian member works with Pakistani artists, a charge of treason should be filed against them. He added, “Additionally, we are writing letters to all related organizations. If anyone is found involved in such activities, they will not be allowed to work in the industry.”
Is war possible?
Although the “War of words” is ongoing, it doesn’t seem like an immediate military invasion will occur. Just as India has started expelling Pakistanis from India, Pakistan has done the same to Indians.
There was curiosity and fear about what would happen if a war broke out between the two countries. Both nations are prepared for military action with the support of the United States. However, this is unlikely because, for the U.S., India and Pakistan are seen as equals. Moreover, China is considered close to Pakistan. The U.S. will not support one over the other. Therefore, while starting a war may be easy, ending it would be much more difficult.
