Prime Minister’s message on Civil Service Day

Kathmandu, 7 Sep: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that it is necessary for employees to bring about a change in their tendency to show excessive procedures and put off work even for simple tasks.

Prime Minister Oli has said that civil service employees need to transform themselves in line with the changing global environment, new technology, and public expectations.

Prime Minister Oli expressed this view while delivering a message of congratulations on the occasion of Civil Service Day today.

Stating that the effectiveness of the government depends on the work of the civil service, Prime Minister Oli said, “The civil service has the main responsibility of bringing the government to the people. The effectiveness of the government depends on the work of the civil service in implementing the government’s policies and programs at the people’s level. The civil service needs to transform itself in line with the changing global environment, new technology, and public expectations.”

Stating that in recent days, citizens’ trust in the civil service has been declining due to the deviation from the ideals, values, conduct, responsibility, and accountability of the civil service, Prime Minister Oli has made it clear that the government will not tolerate the hassle and suffering that comes with providing services to citizens.

Prime Minister Oli has emphasized the need for everyone to deeply understand that the state can win the trust of citizens through good governance, transparency, accountability, and dedication to service.

Prime Minister Oli also mentioned in his congratulatory message that the civil service bill, which is a high priority for the government, is in the process of being passed by the parliament. ‘This civil service law will not only uplift the civil service class but also give a new height to the delivery of federalism,’ Oli said. ‘We are on the verge of taking a leap in administrative federalism through human capital management and mobilization in the country.’

Prime Minister Oli has also called on all employees to be active with high morale. ‘The time has come to provide services to the citizens in a transparent, responsible and result-oriented manner,’ Prime Minister Oli said. ‘Citizens expect employees who are committed to the country and sensitive towards the citizens, not those who shirk their work and responsibilities. For this, all civil servants need to be active on the front lines with high morale.’

Prime Minister Oli has also said that the government has adopted a policy of integrating services through the Nagarik app as it is time to reach the doorsteps of citizens by integrating state services at one point, rather than scattering them.

Stating that the government has been emphasizing on reducing public expenditure, offices and posts by forming a high-level Good Governance Commission, conducting service mapping and institutional and policy reviews based on the needs of the citizens, Prime Minister Oli has said that the civil service should play an active role in making the best use of national resources and institutionalizing transparent administrative practices.

He emphasized that the commitment and creativity of civil servants are indispensable in the common journey to achieve the national aspiration and national destination of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’.

He emphasizes that the contribution of the civil service must be made stronger and more dynamic in the journey towards the aspirations of the new generation, technology-based service delivery, increasing international competitiveness, and sustainable socio-economic transformation.

The Prime Minister is confident that all civil servants will perform their duties responsibly to build a professional, transparent, innovative, and citizen-friendly administration.

On the occasion of the day, Prime Minister Oli has expressed his best wishes for a bright future, wishing success to all civil service families.
