Kathmandu, 19 Sep: President Ram Chandra Paudel has said that the current Constitution has ended all forms of discrimination and oppression created by a centralized and unitary state system, uniting Nepali society with its ethnic, linguistic, religious, cultural, and geographical diversity into the bond of broad national unity.
Extending best wishes on the occasion of Constitution Day on Friday, he expressed that the federal democratic republican governance system inspires all of us to come together to fulfill the aspirations of sustainable peace, good governance, development, and prosperity.
President Paudel stated that Nepal’s Constitution envisions an equitable society based on social justice and aims to build a socialist-oriented economy. He stressed that all citizens must have equal access to state-guaranteed services and facilities, while also ensuring social security for the general population.
He called upon everyone to remain dedicated in thought, word, and deed to translating the spirit and essence of the Constitution into practice, making honest and effective efforts from their respective sides.
President Paudel expressed his belief that Nepal’s culture and natural resources have opened limitless opportunities for employment and income. He added that by ending all kinds of irregularities and ensuring proper management of water resources and energy power through good governance, Nepal can soon reach the forefront of developed nations.
The Constitution, he said, equally safeguards the multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, and multi-cultural uniqueness of Nepal’s geographical structure of the Himalayas, hills, and Terai. He expressed hope that no one would take actions that could harm the mutual harmony, fraternity, and coexistence among Nepalis.
Constitution Day (National Day) is being celebrated today in memory and honor of the historic achievement of promulgating the Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal on 20 September 2015 (Ashoj 3, 2072 B.S.). On this occasion, the President extended best wishes to all Nepalis at home and abroad.
He also paid heartfelt tribute to all known and unknown martyrs who sacrificed their precious lives in the movements for the establishment of the federal democratic republic. Likewise, he expressed respect and reverence to the leaders of political parties who led movements for the republic, and highly appreciated the contribution of citizens and political activists who actively participated in the democratic struggle.
