Kathmandu, 02 Sep: Although the term “Battle” in Nepali appears to be derived from the English word “battle” (meaning fight or war), through this news format it refers to an intellectual battle or dialogue of intellectual conflict.
Battle = War / Fight
The English word “battle” is pronounced as “byatal” in Nepali. It means a war or conflict between two sides.
Battle News refers to a type of news format where two opposing sides engage in a focused discussion on a central topic, presenting questions and answers.
This concept was officially launched today, on Bhadra 17, 2082 (Nepali date), from the studio of Global Online Television in Tripureshwor, Nepal, by journalist Madan Thambu through the Global Television YouTube channel.
Rules
First Side: May ask questions and respond within a maximum of 1 minute.
Opposing Side: May also ask questions and respond within a maximum of 1 minute.
The discussion must remain focused on the core subject.
After the battle is over, there will be a winner and loser, but no one is allowed to get angry.
Although the debate may appear somewhat dramatic, Battle News must be presented clearly and truthfully.
More than two people can participate in a Battle News session.
Battle News must be based on facts and truth.
It can be conducted inside a studio or in any open public space.
Participants and the media organization itself must take legal responsibility and accountability.
