‘Right to Protein’ Half Marathon: Santoshi and Rajan First

Kathmandu, 25 January: The fourth edition of the ‘Right to Protein’ running competition, which has the largest participation of athletes in the country, has concluded. Santoshi Shrestha and Rajan Rokaya have emerged first in the women’s and men’s open half marathons in eight different categories in the competition organized by the Nepal Veterinary Association.

Sanjay Shrestha won the 10-kilometer (open) men’s race, Phulmati Rana won the 5-kilometer (open) women’s race, Lokendra Bohara won the 5-kilometer (men’s) race for students up to grade 12 and Asmita Bhujel won the 3-kilometer (women’s) race, and Aishwarya Kumari Kumal and Ramesh Khatri won the wheelchair race (women and men) for people with disabilities, informed the RSS, coordinator of the organizing committee, Dr. Sheetal Kaji Shrestha.

Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Ramnath Adhikari, National Sports Council Member Secretary Tankalal Ghising and other dignitaries presented cash prizes, certificates and medals to the winning players. They received awards from 40 players who won in eight different categories.

The first place winners in the half marathon were each awarded Rs 150,000. The second place winners were awarded Rs 100,000, the third place winners were awarded Rs 70,000, the fourth place winners were awarded Rs 50,000, and the fifth place winners were awarded Rs 30,000. The first place winner in the 10 km race was awarded Rs 50,000, the second place winners were awarded Rs 40,000, the third place winners were awarded Rs 30,000, the fourth place winners were awarded Rs 20,000, and the fifth place winners were awarded Rs 10,000.

 

Under the competition, the first, second, third, fourth and fifth place finishers in the 5 km race were awarded Rs 30,000, 20,000, 15,000, 10,000 and 5,000 respectively. In the 3 km race, the first place finisher received Rs 20,000, the second place finisher received Rs 15,000, the third place finisher received Rs 10,000, the fourth place finisher received Rs 5,000 and the fifth place finisher received Rs 2,500.

The first-place athlete in the wheelchair category received Rs 30,000, the second-place athlete received Rs 20,000. Similarly, the third-place athlete received Rs 15,000, the fourth-place athlete received Rs 10,000, and the fifth-place athlete received Rs 5,000. The organizers have stated that around 8,000 runners, including departmental athletes, are participating in the competition.
