Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has issued a serious warning that Russia’s attempts to evade international sanctions are increasing global security risks. Citing a report by Oleksiy Ivashchenko, head of Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service, he noted that Russia is seeking to evade sanctions through energy companies and fictitious legal structures.
In a public message on social media platform X, President Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine will continue to monitor such activities and maintain pressure on Russia by coordinating with partner countries.
“Russia is using temporary owners and artificial legal schemes to shield its energy companies from global sanctions. We are watching all these activities and will cooperate with partners to prevent Russia from obtaining resources for war,” he said.
Ivashchenko’s report also includes the matter of Russia deploying the Orsis system on Belarusian territory, which President Zelenskyy described as a serious threat to global security. He stated that the aggressive expansion of such weapons creates dangers and confirmed that instructions have already been given to develop counter-options with allies.
President Zelenskyy also expressed concern about the growing cooperation between Russia and China in the intelligence and military production sectors. Specifically, he mentioned the increasing collaboration between institutions of both countries in space-based intelligence information, claiming a connection between Chinese satellite imagery and Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
“Such activities are helping Russia prolong the war and weaken diplomatic efforts,” he stated. He made it clear that all these issues will be raised with partners and that Russia’s actions will be resisted through diplomatic means.
