Bhaktapur, 18th February: The 11th meeting of the Valley Mayors Forum held on Monday in Nagarkot, a tourist area of Bhaktapur, has decided to make the ‘Nagarkot Visit Year’, which is being organized by Changunarayan Municipality from next Baisakh 1, a success.
The meeting of the Bagmati Province Chief Minister, provincial ministers, city mayors, deputy mayors and other public representatives, who participated in the Valley Mayors Forum meeting held in Nagarkot, organized by Changunarayan Municipality, emphasized the need for cooperation from all three levels of government to make the Visit Nepal Year a success.
Bagmati Province Chief Minister Bahadur Singh Lama pledged to provide necessary support from the provincial government to make Nagarkot Visit Year a success. Stating that he is ready to move forward in collaboration with the Valley Mayors Forum, he stressed that regular discussions are necessary for that.
Provincial Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Kundan Raj Kafle said that if there is collaboration between the local level and the provincial government, progress can be made in many areas. He emphasized that the Visit Nepal Year should be made successful based on collaboration and coordination.
Provincial Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Suraj Chandra Lamichhane said that the provincial government will support the success of the Nagarkot Visit Year, which is being held with the aim of promoting tourism in the tourist city of Nagarkot. He expressed confidence that through tourism promotion, the standard of living of the citizens will improve and help in building a prosperous country.
The meeting has made decisions including implementing smoke pollution testing technology for vehicles operating in the Kathmandu Valley and managing hospital waste in the Valley. The provincial government and the local level discussed issues related to financial transfer, revenue sharing, and inter-level coordination, and agreed to move forward through mutual cooperation and coordination between the local level, provincial government, and federal government.
Changunarayan Municipality Mayor Jeevan Khatri said that he had the opportunity to introduce the tourist area of Nagarkot through the Mayors Forum and informed that the Nagarkot Visit Year is being celebrated with the aim of promoting tourism in the entire municipality. He invited the Mayors Forum and the provincial government and urged them to play a supportive role in making the Visit Year a success.
Changunarayan Deputy Chief Ramesh Budhathoki expressed confidence that the Nagarkot Visit Year will be successful in extending the stay of domestic and foreign tourists in Nagarkot as it is the identity and tourist destination of not only Changunarayan but also the Bagmati Province and the country.
The meeting, chaired by Mayors Forum Chairman Chiribabu Maharjan, was attended by the mayors and deputy mayors of the cities in the valley. A comprehensive documentary on Changunarayan Municipality was screened in the meeting, and Kirtipur Municipality Mayor Krishnaman Dangol was welcomed to the meeting for the first time.
