This marks an 8.7 percent increase compared to the same month last year, when 64,598 tourists had arrived. According to the Nepal Tourism Board, a total of 647,882 international tourists visited Nepal between January and July 2025.
The board’s Chief Executive Officer, Deepak Raj Joshi, stated that this figure reflects the revival of Nepal’s tourism industry and its re-emergence as a popular global destination.
Among the total tourist arrivals in July, the highest number—27,152 tourists, or 38.7 percent—came from India. China ranked second with 6,890 visitors (9.8 percent), followed by the United States with 6,626 visitors (9.4 percent), Bangladesh with 4,413 visitors (6.3 percent), and the United Kingdom with 3,547 visitors (5.1 percent).

Nepal witnessed a significant rise in tourist arrivals in the first seven months of 2025, with a total of 647,882 international visitors entering the country, according to data released by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).
The figures reflect a steady recovery and growing global interest in Nepal as a preferred travel destination. Tourism officials say the increase in visitor numbers can be attributed to ongoing promotional campaigns under the “Visit Nepal Decade” initiative, increased private sector investment, and a wider range of tourism products and experiences.
In July alone, 70,193 tourists arrived, marking an 8.7% increase compared to July 2024. India remains the largest source market, contributing over 27,000 visitors in that month alone, followed by China, the United States, Bangladesh, and the United Kingdom.
NTB Chief Executive Officer Deepak Raj Joshi stated, “This encouraging growth shows that Nepal is once again positioning itself as a popular destination on the global tourism map. We are optimistic about continuing this upward trend.”
Regional data shows that nearly half of the tourists came from South Asia, while significant numbers also arrived from other Asian countries, Europe, the Americas, Oceania, and the Middle East.
With the monsoon season in full swing, the rise in tourist numbers is seen as a positive indicator of Nepal’s appeal beyond just peak trekking seasons, highlighting opportunities in culture, nature, and adventure tourism year-round.
