Today’s pro-monarchy demonstration has ended; it will resume again tomorrow from 12 PM

Kathmandu, 29 May: The protest program scheduled for the 15th of Jestha (May 29) by pro-monarchy groups, including the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), concluded peacefully.

During the event, RPP leaders and activists detained three individuals accused of attempting to infiltrate the protest and handed them over to the police.

RPP leader Kamal Thapa stated that Thursday’s event had sent a strong message and that such protests would continue until the monarchy is reinstated. “Wherever you gathered today, please regroup at the same places tomorrow at 12 PM and march toward various parts of Kathmandu, raising slogans and mobilizing the capital,” he urged supporters. “Be sure to reach the Maitighar Mandala and Bijuli Bazaar areas by 1 PM.”

Speaking at a gathering after the demonstration, RPP Chairman Rajendra Lingden described the event as “just a casting,” emphasizing that the movement would continue until there is a change in the current system.

The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has organized multiple protests in Kathmandu over the past few years, primarily advocating for the reinstatement of the constitutional monarchy and the declaration of Nepal as a Hindu state. These demonstrations have varied in scale and intensity, with some leading to significant confrontations and casualties.
