Kathmandu, Sep 17: Kaligarh is celebrating Vastu Day and Vishwakarma Puja today by worshiping Vishwakarma.
Every year on the day of Kanya i.e. Ashwin Sankranti, this day is celebrated by ritually worshiping the sand idol or picture of Lord Vishwakarma in various workshops. This day is celebrated by specially decorating the factories and making the workers participate. An idol of Vishwakarma made of sand or other material is placed in the Sundarijal the estuary of Vagmati spring water or other pure water. The idols and images are worshiped today are floated in the river from Wednesday.
There is a religious belief that if worship is performed on various tools used in Kaligarh these days, they will last for a long time, will not break during work and will be able to do good work. There is a religious belief that Vishwakarma hid Lord Krishna in the middle of the sea by making ‘Bheda Dwarka’ after the demons gave him pain in the Dwapara Yuga. Prof. Toyraj Nepal, a theologian, said that Vishwakarma was regarded as a successful architect because he built ‘Bhed Dwarka’ in the middle of the sea in one night.
Dwarka is also considered as the protector of the western direction among the guardian deities of the four directions in ancient India. ‘Bhed Dwarka’, built by Vishwakarma, is believed to be still in the middle of the sea in the Indian state of Gujarat. Vishwakarma is considered as a specialist in Vastu Vidya. Architect Shiv Pokharel said that he is believed to have composed the text of Vastu Shastra named ‘Vishwakarma Prakash’. In memory of this, Kaligarh of Nepal today honors Vishwakarma Baba in a grand manner and honors his wisdom. It is believed that if you do this, you will also get the qualities of Vishwakarma. In this belief, worship is performed today even in motorized vehicles.
Vastu Shastri Pokharel informed that it is a tradition for architects to celebrate this day as Vastu Day in memory of the author and scholar of Vastu Shastra books. “Recently, a reawakening of Vastu Vidya has started in Nepal as well. In one of the four Upavedas, the subject of Vastu Shastra is mentioned in Sthapatyaveda. The number of people building cities and houses based on the endangered architectural Vedas has also started to increase. Because of this, the importance of Vastu Vidya has increased now”, he said.
On this occasion, a special program has been organized today at the central office of Nepal Astrology Council, Dillibazar. In the program, there will be a discussion and lecture program on Vastu Shastra. Officials of the Nepal Panchang Development Committee and others will be present in the program.
