External tourist riots taking Tika and Jamra in Sauraha

Muglin (Chitwan), 26 Ashoj(Oct 12): Foreign tourists who came to visit the tourist town of Sauraha in Chitwan celebrated Dashain. On Badadashai, the great festival of Nepalese, foreign tourists have celebrated Dashai by tapping tika and jamra in different hotels of Sauraha, understanding about Nepali culture. Dhruba Giri, managing director of Sapna Village in Sauraha, gave Tika and Jamara to the foreign tourists. He also said that the hotel is open for the services of tourists even on Dashain day. Foreign tourists are shocked when Tika and Jamra are applied alternately. 26 people from France, Germany and the Netherlands performed Dashain Tika and Jamra here.

The foreign tourists came here only two days ago, traveling to different parts of Nepal on motorcycles. “Nepali citizens are intimate, friendly, Nepal is beautiful”, said Harry Thoma, a French citizen, “I am happy to celebrate Dasai with Nepali people.” Johnny Wright, a 36-year-old tourist who came from the Netherlands to visit Sauraha, was very happy to celebrate the Nepali festival Dashain with Tika and Jamra this time. “I had only heard that other friends enjoyed Nepali traditions when they came to visit Nepal, but today Sauraha came and celebrated Dasai by wearing Tika and Jamara”, he said.

Another foreign tourist, 24-year-old Erica, also looked very happy. “I come to visit during festivals because I can directly experience the culture and traditions of different countries”, he said. The tourist season has already started in Sauraha of Chitwan. Every hotel has made a tradition of celebrating Dasai for foreign tourists coming here. “In the past, we had also celebrated in Dashain with tourists in this way,” said Giri, the hotel owner.

Ganga Giri, president of the regional hotel association, said that in the last two days, almost 35 percent of tourists from third countries have come here to visit Sauraha. Tourists are not only attracted by the wild animals here, but festivals like Dashain and Tihar also attract them.
