The March 5 Election Is an Achievement of the Youth Movement: President Paudel

Kathmandu, 3 Nov: President Ramchandra Paudel has said that the election scheduled for Fagun 21 (March 5) in Nepal is a remarkable achievement of the youth movement. He urged everyone to make the election a grand success, calling it crucial for Nepal’s development and destiny. Addressing the Nepali community during a welcome program organized at the Embassy of Nepal in Doha on Monday, President Paudel emphasized that the youth movement was driven by the aspirations to end corruption, establish good governance, and create a Nepal where young people would no longer be compelled to go abroad for employment. He noted that those who tried to exploit the movement for personal gain failed, allowing the nation to safeguard its constitution and democratic system.

Call to Utilize Qatar’s Experience for Nepal’s Development

President Paudel highlighted that while many nations faced challenges in resolving the storms brought by youth movements, Nepal succeeded in ensuring a safe political transition while protecting its system and constitution. He called upon Nepalis in Qatar to use their experiences from Qatar’s progress, development, and technological advancements to contribute to Nepal’s growth.

President Paudel, accompanied by First Lady Sabita Paudel and a Nepali delegation, arrived in Doha on Monday to attend the “Second World Summit for Social Development,” being held from Kartik 18 to 20 (November 3–5). The delegation was welcomed by Nepal’s Ambassador to Qatar Ramesh Chandra Paudel, senior officials, and representatives of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA).

Participation in the UN-Backed World Summit and Bilateral Engagements

At the invitation of Qatar’s Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, President Paudel is leading Nepal’s delegation to the summit in Doha. He will address the main session of the summit on Kartik 18 (November 3) and hold meetings with Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, among others.

During his remarks at the embassy, President Paudel emphasized that the Nepali Embassy in Qatar bears a profound responsibility to understand and address the concerns of Nepali workers in the country, urging embassy staff to deliver reliable and dedicated services. He also mentioned that the embassy must play an active role in further strengthening Nepal-Qatar relations, given Qatar’s growing significance in the Middle East.

Ambassador Ramesh Chandra Paudel briefed the President about the situation of Nepali migrant workers in Qatar.

The Second World Summit for Social Development, first held in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1995, will discuss global issues such as development inequality, demographic imbalances, and the social impacts of technology.

Nepal, a UN member since 1955, has remained an active and committed contributor to peace and stability and currently chairs the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). President Paudel is scheduled to return to Nepal on Kartik 20 (November 5) after concluding his official visit to Qatar.
