Prime Minister Oli in discussions with Nepali and Spanish businesspeople and investors

Spain, 3 Jul: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has returned to Madrid after attending the Fourth United Nations International Conference on “Financing for Development” held in Seville, Spain.

He arrived in Madrid by train and participated in a discussion program with Nepali and Spanish businesspeople and investors, organized jointly by the Nepali Embassy in Spain and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Prime Minister Oli had traveled to Seville for the conference on Asar 15 (June 29) via Madrid. Prime Minister Oli, who departed for Spain on Asar 14 (June 28), is scheduled to return to Kathmandu on Asar 20 (July 4).

 

Urges on Spanish businesspeople to invest in Nepal

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called on Spanish entrepreneurs and businesspeople to expand their investment in Nepal.

Addressing a program titled “Interaction with Nepali and Spanish Businesspeople and Investors,” organized on Wednesday by the Nepali Embassy in Spain and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Prime Minister Oli said that Nepal is moving forward with the national aspiration of “Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali,” and is therefore encouraging foreign investors to take part in this journey.

Prime Minister Oli said that the discussion had energized efforts to expand meaningful business partnerships between Nepal and Spain. Highlighting Nepal as the home of the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest, and a country known for peace and rich cultural heritage, he described it as an ideal destination for investment.

“The private sector is the engine of economic growth. The current government is clear in its commitment to promoting investment and innovation. As the Chair of the Investment Board Nepal, I assure you that the government will take all necessary steps to ensure investor protection and facilitation,” he said.

“There is great potential for investment in Nepal’s tourism, agriculture, information technology, and infrastructure sectors. I warmly welcome investors to explore these areas. I also invite businesspeople from Spain to visit Nepal for investment feasibility studies. I consider you not just investors but partners in development,” he added.

At the event, Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), highlighted the strong investment potential in sectors such as tourism, agriculture, and information technology in Nepal. He noted that the government has provided legal and other facilitative measures, creating a favorable environment for investors.

Representatives from Spanish government and business institutions expressed their readiness to further enhance economic and trade relations between the two countries.

The event was attended by Prime Minister’s Chief Advisor Bishnu Prasad Rimal; Minister for Water Supply Pradeep Yadav; Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Amrit Kumar Rai; Secretary of the Ministry of Finance Ghanashyam Upadhyaya; Secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers Rajkumar Shrestha; Secretary of the Ministry of Water Supply Pramila Devi Shakya Bajracharya; and Nepal’s Ambassador to Spain, Shanil Nepal, among others.

Prime Minister Oli returned to Madrid on Wednesday after participating in the Fourth United Nations International Conference on Financing for Development, held in Seville, Spain.
