After the ceasefire announcement, Shahbaz Sharif’s address, claiming his victory

“After the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif addressed the nation on Saturday night.”

Following the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif addressed the nation on Saturday night. Sharif specifically congratulated officers of the Pakistani Army, Navy, and Armed Forces, declaring this an “historic victory for Pakistan.”

At the beginning of his speech, Sharif stated, “If anyone challenges our freedom, we will do whatever it takes to defend ourselves.” He dismissed allegations against Pakistan as baseless.

India’s Silence & Earlier Accusations
India has not yet responded to Sharif’s remarks. However, earlier, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri accused Pakistan of “gross violations” of the agreement during a special press briefing.

Claims of Drone Attacks & Retaliation
In his address, Sharif alleged that recent drone strikes in Pakistan had destroyed mosques and killed innocent civilians. He asserted, “In this situation, Pakistan’s security forces gave a fitting response to the Indian Armed Forces. We have successfully upheld our principles.”

Ceasefire for Mutual Benefit
On Saturday night, Sharif emphasized that the ceasefire was in everyone’s interest. “Pakistan is home to millions. We have reached this agreement for the welfare of all, and we are optimistic about it,” he said. He expressed gratitude to former U.S. President Trump, acknowledging Washington’s “critical role” in the truce, and thanked the UK for its advice.

Special Thanks to China
Sharif notably praised China, calling it “our very dear, trusted, and beloved friend.” Thanking other nations, he added, “We are fully confident that water disputes, Kashmir, and all other contentious issues will be resolved.”

What did Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar say after the ceasefire?

India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar confirmed on Saturday that both India and Pakistan have reached an agreement for an immediate ceasefire.

He stated that an agreement had been reached between India and Pakistan to cease all gunfire and military operations. The Indian Foreign Minister wrote on the social media platform X: “India has consistently taken a strong and firm stand against all forms and manifestations of terrorism, and it will continue to do so.”

Earlier, former U.S. President Donald Trump had shared information about the “immediate and complete ceasefire” agreement through a post on Truth Social.

Following that, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister also confirmed the agreement via social media. India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri provided a brief statement about the ceasefire around 6 PM on Saturday evening.

He said, “Both sides have agreed to cease all forms of gunfire and military operations on land, air, and sea starting from 5 PM Indian Standard Time.”
