It is customary to go to lake, pond and river and take a bath from the Hindu priest to swear the Rakshasutra (thread of yellow or red). During Raksha Bandhan, the priest recites the mantra and swear it. It is a custom to swear the mantra and bind on the right hand for the protection of human beings.
