Kathmandu, 12 February: The eighth edition of the ‘ATA Everest Global Nepali Film Awards’ is scheduled to be held in Colorado, USA in August. The date for the eighth edition of the Global Nepali Film Awards was decided during a special ceremony organized in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
The time for the eighth edition has been fixed in the presence of Bagmati Province Minister for Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Madhu Kumar Shrestha and Nepal Film Development Board Chairman Dinesh DC. The edition, which is being organized with the slogan ‘Nepali Film Village to Globe’, has been organized with the aim of honoring, rewarding and encouraging filmmakers, said Krishna Malla, central president of Nepal Film Society.
“We are organizing the program with the aim of bringing together Nepali filmmakers and artists scattered around the world in one place and introducing them to Nepali original art and culture,” he said.
The program is being jointly organized by Nepal Film Society, Nepal, Global Nepali Film Awards America and Helping Hands Health Education. Narayan Shrestha, President of Helping Hands Health Education, said that the program is being organized to develop and encourage Nepali films. The program was attended by senior artists Harihar Sharma, Shambhujit Baskota, Shobhit Upreti, Mohan Niraula, Basanta Shrestha, Bhuwan Chand, Basundhara Bhusal, Tirtha Thapa, Dipendra Gauchan, Madandas Shrestha, Radheshyam Lekali, Sunil Thapa, Prashant Tamrakar, Dr. Bhimarjun Acharya, Ashok Sharma, and others, along with officials of the organizing organization.
With the slogan ‘Our own name, our own pride, our own identity: From village to world market’, the ‘Global Nepali Film Awards’ has been organized regularly since 2016 to encourage and honor filmmakers.
