Ukrainian intelligence indicates that Moscow has made its Iranian UAV technology available to North Korea, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on June 10.
The president made the statement during his evening address, which focused mainly on the government’s efforts to bolster national air defenses, given that the Kremlin is steadily escalating its daily drone strikes on Ukrainian cities.
Having noted that Russia continues to use North Korean ballistic missiles against Ukraine, Zelenskyy added that Moscow has transferred its Shahed drone technology to Pyongyang, elevating the North Korean threat to countries in Southeast Asia.
“The longer this war lasts on the ground, the more military technology evolves, and the greater the threat becomes for everyone,” Zelenskyy said.
“We must respond now rather than wait until thousands of advanced kamikaze drones and ballistic missiles begin to threaten Seoul and Tokyo.”
Early in the morning on June 10, Russia attacked Kyiv with hundreds of Shahed drones and two North Korean ballistic missiles, causing extensive damage and fires across the capital. Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR) subsequently warned that Moscow has upgraded the KN-23 ballistic missiles it received from North Korea, making them more accurate and deadly.
