Monthly savings of 40 thousand from nursery business

Kailali, 13 February: Suresh Bishwakarma of Boradandi, Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City-3, has been saving Rs 40,000 per month from his nursery business. He is operating ‘Kantipur Nursery’ and is producing commercially, contrary to the belief that one has to go abroad to earn a living.

Bishwokarma, who lives in Buddha Chowk, Dhangadhi-8, had gained experience in plant-related work by working for a long time at the Bioplantic Private Limited company in Kathmandu, which deals with plant-related work. After this experience, he returned to his village and started a nursery business.

Bishwakarma has been running the business by renting four plots of land at an annual cost of Rs 150,000. He said that he has been working in the nursery business for the past 13 years and has been operating a business in Boradandi, Dhangadhi for the past five years with an investment of Rs 5 million.

Bishwakarma informed that he has been saving Rs 40,000 per month. He said that all the expenses of the family of six, including the education of his children, are met from this income. He also said that he has provided employment to three people and that the monthly salary expenditure is Rs 36,000.

“This business is more risky than others. Sometimes, due to adverse conditions, plants get infected with various diseases, causing them to deteriorate, rot, and even fall ill, which leads to losses,” he said. “Sometimes there is a loss in business, sometimes there is a profit. One should not stop working hard with patience. This business has given me satisfaction, so far I have not had to ask anyone for money.”

Bishwakarma informed that he has been importing and selling various types of fruits, including so-pants, from places like Jhapa, Biratnagar, Itahari and Kanchanpur in Nepal. He said that he also produces some plants himself in the nursery and sells them. Currently, various types of fruits, so-pants, and other plants are available in the nursery.
