Cultivation

Most of place in Nepal applies same method to cultivate millet. We make land ready to cultivate corn on Mar/Apr and ripe it on Jul/Aug. After corn ripe, farmers clean weedy land and dug, plowed it. First, the seeds are sown in a small area and small plant is prepared. This plant is uprooted and planted another place where we dug and plowed. We do not need to look after or much effort it. This cultivation is easy for farmers. No need fertilizer much for millet.

famous for millet’s alcohol

There is famous for making alcohol from millet grain started it from hundreds years before. This is local made alcohol named it “Kodoko Raksi” famous in Nepal. Most of Nepalese people drink it but it is prohibited to make at home and sell it. Sometimes police arrests owner and throw the alcohol who made it. The government of Nepal gives permit to import branded expensive wine and whiskey in Nepal. So millet cultivation is slowly decreasing in Nepal.
