Lalitpur’s Indra Jatra ended with Lakhenach

Lalitpur, October 2: The Indra Jatra organized with the support of Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality-1 ended today with Lake Nach. Indrajatra, celebrated every year in Lalitpur, ended with lakhe dances.

Indrajatra which started with Khat Jatra from Sankata Marg temple complex located in Ward No. 1 of Lalitpur on Tuesday 1st October, ended today with Toll Parikrama and Puja Aradhana along with Lakhenach.

Today, from Sankata Marg temple complex including Lakhenach, worshiping Bhairav, Ganesha and Kumari deities will be held at Musingal Chowk, Gas Depot, Lilaghar, Kumari Mandir, Janakpur College, Nanicha Chowk, Amar Shishu, Ganeshthan Paradise, Mainpower Sarwang Hospital, Big Mart, Tinkhamba Chowk, Bhajan Mandal, Musingal. The temple complex is circumambulated through the square.

On the first day of the Jatra, a Toll Parikrama along with Lakhenach was conducted from Sankata Marg temple complex. Nirmal Tandukar, Ward President of Lalitpur Metropolitan City-1, said that the Indrajatra celebrated especially by the Newar community has been organized in Lalitpur since last year. He said, “We are happy to organize the historic Indra Jatra. This year’s Indra Jatra was celebrated with great enthusiasm. We hope to celebrate even better next year.” Legend has it that Indrajatra has been celebrated since the twelfth century as the deity of the age.
