Korea’s income invested in ‘dragon fruit’

Galkot (Baglung), 28 Bhadra (13 Sep): Pratimaan Thapa of Kathekhola Rural Municipality-1, who returned from Korea, is busy in the commercial production of the delicious fruit ‘Dragon Fruit’. Thapa, who planted 1,500 dragon fruit plants in the year 2077, said that he started picking fruits in 15 months. Thapa, who returned to his village from Korea during the Corona period, was shocked when he started producing commercial dragon fruit based on watching videos on YouTube. He said that 1,200 kg of dragon fruit farming, which he started with an investment of Rs. He shared his experience that the commercial cultivation of dragon fruit is the easiest of fruits. In a short period of time, more than four lakhs have been earned from dragon fruit. “I started farming by bringing 1,500 plants from Chitwan, now I am sending dragon fruit to the market at Rs 400 per kg, dragon fruit is being consumed in Beni, Pokhara and Baglung markets”, he said. Thapa said that the cultivation of this fruit does not require a lot of effort like other crops, and if you make a cement pole and plant it in the beginning, it will grow well. “After investing once, there is no need to continue investing, the market potential is high because the dragon fruit is versatile in terms of production and benefits”, said Thapa, “The fruit that starts production from May can be picked after 15 days till December, the one I am using is the red dragon.”
