Iran’s Foreign Minister said, “If Israel stops its attacks, we will stop too”

Iran has stated that it will not launch further attacks if Israel halts its aggression. Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi made this statement via social media platform X.

“If Israel immediately stops its illegal attacks, Iran has no plans to respond further,” he said.

He stated that the military action, carried out in response to Israeli attacks, continued until 4 a.m.

He said, “Along with all Iranians, I express my gratitude to our brave armed forces, who stood ready to defend the country to their last drop of blood and responded to every enemy assault until the very last moment.”

Earlier, he had stated that, contrary to what U.S. President Donald Trump claimed, no ceasefire agreement had been made, and that a decision on the matter would be taken later.

Meanwhile, news agency Reuters has reported that an Iranian official has confirmed Iran’s agreement to a ceasefire. However, the identity of the official has not been disclosed.

The report also mentions that President Trump had already secured Israel’s agreement to the ceasefire. However, according to Reuters, Israel has made it clear that the ceasefire will only take effect if Iran refrains from launching further attacks.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the ceasefire would begin “gradually.” According to him, both sides will be allowed time to complete any ongoing military missions before a full ceasefire officially takes effect.

“Qatar’s Decisive Role”

Meanwhile, international news agency Reuters, citing U.S. officials, reported that Qatar played a decisive role in de-escalating tensions following Iran’s missile attack on the U.S. military base at Al Udeid in Doha.

According to the report, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani directly contacted Iran and urged them to agree to a ceasefire.

Similarly, U.S. President Donald Trump informed Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, that Israel had already agreed to a ceasefire.

In this way, Qatar successfully secured consent from both Iran and Israel, achieving a diplomatic breakthrough in resolving the latest crisis, according to Doha Times Online.

Previously, Qatar had also mediated between Hamas and Israel for a ceasefire during the Gaza conflict. Analysts say the recent developments have further strengthened Qatar’s role in promoting regional peace.

Tensions in the Middle East escalated after Israel launched an attack on Iran on June 13. The situation worsened when the U.S. also targeted three major Iranian nuclear facilities. In retaliation, Iran fired missiles at the American military base located in Doha, Qatar.

According to the Doha Times, most of the missiles were intercepted, though one missile fragment landed inside the base. However, Qatari government officials reported that there were no human casualties.
