Hindu Religion

Hindu religion (ब्राहम्ण Brahmanism) is a name mentioned in old writings. Hinduism does not have any historical founder nor it has any date of beginning. The word Hindu is actually derived from the word Sindhu. The word Indus is a Sanskrit word which means ” heap of water”. When Sikandar Mahan the great conquered them, he used the word Indus for the people living on the banks of the Sindhu river. Later, the people who came from the Arab countries began to refer to the people living on the eastern side of the Sindhu river as Hindu. Later the people of Persia also used the word Hindu. The word Hindu is a word used geographically. For the word Hindu, the word Al-Hind is used in the Arabic language, which means the people living around the Sindhu river. Therefore, Hinduism is a word used for the people of a geographical area without being a religion. Around the 19th century, the word Hinduism became a religious, philosophical, and cultural things. It is difficult to define Hinduism. A scholar, Klostermeier has said, “Hinduism is a state of mind rather than a collection of facts and chronological order of events. Within Hinduism, monotheism, polytheism, violence to non violence, various sacrificial practices are a collection of beliefs about various supernatural forces. Hinduism is also called Sanatan Dharma. Sanatan means “Sanatan which is eternal and religion is generally understood as law or orders of things. Sanatan is an ancient religion or the religion of eternity.” Hinduism offers various ways to its followers to transform their mind or understanding so that they can perceive and be aware of supernatural power in any place.
