Kathmandu, 13 February: Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has emphasized the need to institutionalize the achievements gained through the struggle.
In a message of congratulations issued today in the context of the armed struggle that took place 30 years ago under the leadership of the then CPN (Maoist), he said that the responsibility of fulfilling the remaining tasks of social transformation has fallen on their shoulders by respecting public trust and public opinion.
Stating that the monarchy has ended in the country today and a federal democratic republic has been established due to the armed struggle, Chairman Dahal has said that the path has been opened to ensure representation of oppressed communities in the ruling power.
“We participated in the peace process through a peace agreement under a unique circumstance. This is a new experiment we have done. For the first time in history, we succeeded in institutionalizing the rights of the Nepali people through the constitution. The state was restructured. The foundation for prosperity, justice, and equality was laid. This was possible because of the people’s war. We made some shortcomings in this process, but our intentions were never flawed. We did not want to remain in the status quo. We continued to work for the progress of the Nepali people and Nepali society. Therefore, we are moving forward with an open heart, reviewing our weaknesses as well,” he said in his congratulatory message.
Chairman Dahal paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their precious lives during the armed struggle, paid respect to those who went missing, and wished for the full recovery of the injured. He paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their precious lives, respected those who went missing, and wished for the full recovery of the injured.
Commitment to continue defending the constitution and people’s rights
Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has said that he will continue to struggle to protect the norms and people’s rights established in the constitution formed on the strength of the people’s movement. At a program organized at the party office in Parisdanda today to mark the 30th anniversary of the armed struggle launched under the leadership of the then Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) since 1 February 2052, he said that efforts to overturn the progressive provisions of the constitution would be thwarted.
“Even now, the struggle between two classes and tendencies is going on. Many years ago, we had assessed that even if we reached a federal democratic republic, there would be efforts to prevent it from becoming a people’s republic. Today, the same situation has emerged,” said Chairman Dahal. “Some elements are trying to overturn the progressive provisions of the constitution, but we will leave it at that, taking it to a socialist republic.”
He said that the Maoists have resolved to firmly advance the people’s ‘agenda’ by returning to the community and strengthen unity with the people. Chairman Dahal emphasized that even after achieving epoch-making achievements at the political level, the party should join efforts to change the lives of the people in a way that they can feel.
On that occasion, Maoist leaders including Chairman Dahal offered a bouquet of flowers at the Martyrs’ Memorial located in the party office premises.
