Kathmandu, 21 June: Due to the Israel-Iran war, the Indian government has decided to rescue Nepali citizens facing difficulties in Iran. At the request of the Government of Nepal, the Indian Embassy in Iran will carry out the rescue operation.
Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba stated that there are 16 Nepali citizens in Iran, and she has requested the Government of India to help evacuate them during the rescue of its own nationals.
Minister Dr. Rana said, “There are also a small number of Nepali citizens in Iran. I have requested the Government of India, through Indian Ambassador Naveen Srivastava, to rescue Nepali citizens as well during the evacuation of their nationals. We are awaiting their support.”
Due to the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict, Minister Dr. Rana made this request to the Indian government for the rescue of Nepalis in Iran. For this purpose, she has also instructed Nepal’s Ambassador to India, Dr. Shankar Sharma, to coordinate accordingly.
After the Indian Embassy in Iran accepted Nepal’s request, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today contacted the Nepali citizens in Iran and advised them to get in touch with the Indian Embassy there. The Indian Embassy in Iran has also issued a notice to this effect.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lok Bahadur Paudyal Kshetri said that Nepali citizens in Iran are in contact and coordination with Raki Mayuri, the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy in Iran.
Along with this, the Indian Embassy has also called on Nepali and Sri Lankan nationals in Iran to get in touch with them.
