An end to the situation where people have to walk for hours to get oral rehydration solution (Jeevan Jal)

Bhojpur, April 7: The problem of locals of Temkemaiyung Rural Municipality-5 Majhaule in Bhojpur having to walk for hours to get general health services has come to an end. The problem of locals has been eliminated after the basic community health service came into operation in the village itself. In order to provide easy services to the citizens, services are being provided through community health services targeting the locals of the then former Khawa Village Development Committee-9, 8 and 7, said the rural municipality vice-chairwoman Ramadevi Rai. She said that to solve the problems faced by the citizens, she has established a health unit and provided services as per the promise she made when she became a people’s representative.

“The citizens here had a lot of problems getting health services,” said Vice-chairwoman Rai, “There was a situation where they had to walk three to four hours to get general health services. As per the promise made when she became a people’s representative, we have succeeded in providing services from here.” Vice-chairwoman Rai said that she is playing a role from her level to provide easy health services to the citizens. She informed that services are being provided by establishing basic community health units even in other geographically remote places.

Ramesh Bista of Temkemaiyung-5 said that he was happy to get health services from his village, when he had to walk for hours to get a common cold and jeevanjal. He said that the establishment of the health unit has put an end to the compulsion of the citizens of this place to spend three to four hours to go to other places for services. “Getting general health services was a problem,” he said, “Now we are able to get services from the village itself. Now our problem that has been going on for years has gone.”

Local Dev Bahadur Bista said that even though health institutions are operating in the village itself, when we are sick, we are able to get regular health check-ups. Bista informed that the establishment of the health center has put an end to the situation of having to walk for hours to get general treatment.

“We have been facing problems for generations to get general health services,” he said, “Now it has become easier after the establishment of the health center in the village. We were very sad because there was no health center. Now we are able to get regular health check-ups in our own place.”
