Iran’s Foreign Minister says the 12-day war with Israel has ended

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has indirectly stated that the 12-day war with Israel has ended.

A short while ago, he posted on social media congratulating the Iranian military for responding to Israel until the very last moment.

“Our powerful armed forces continued to respond to Israeli aggression until the final minute—until 4 a.m.,” he wrote on the social media platform X.

Earlier, he had hinted at the possibility of a ceasefire, saying, “If Israel halts its attacks by 4 a.m. Tehran time, we have no intention of continuing retaliatory action.”

Tehran is half an hour ahead of Israel, and Araghchi made his post as soon as it turned 4 a.m. in Israel.

He further wrote, “Along with all Iranians, I would like to thank our brave security forces, who were ready to defend our nation to their last drop of blood and responded to the enemy until the very last minute.”

Previously, U.S. President Donald Trump had announced on social media that a ceasefire had been agreed upon between Israel and Iran.

Late last night, President Trump posted on social media: “A full ceasefire agreement has been reached between Israel and Iran.”

Just a few hours after Iran launched a missile strike targeting the U.S. military base in Qatar, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi wrote about the ceasefire on social media.

U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that Iran had informed the U.S. in advance before launching the missiles at its military base. According to The New York Times, Trump stated that 13 out of the 14 missiles fired by Iran were intercepted, and no American soldiers were injured.

It is believed that Iran had already agreed to a ceasefire before launching the missile attack. Analysts suggest that the strike was carried out primarily to show the Iranian public that the country had retaliated for the U.S. attacks on its nuclear facilities.

According to The New York Times, Vice President J.D. Vance said that “the war appears to be over and a real opportunity for the start of a peace process has emerged.”

Citing three diplomats, the Times also reported that Qatar played a key role in facilitating the ceasefire.
