The body of Sudip, who was killed in Kashmir, has been brought to Rupandehi

Butwal, 24 April: The body of Sudip Neupane from Butwal, who was killed in a terrorist attack while traveling in Jammu and Kashmir, India, has been brought to Nepal.

According to Rupandehi Police Chief, Superintendent of Police Ranjit Singh Rathour, Sudip’s body, who was shot dead by armed terrorists on Tuesday afternoon, was transported from New Delhi to Lucknow by air and then brought to the Belahiya border point by road. “Today (Thursday) just before 7 AM, Sudip’s body arrived at the Belahiya border. From here, we will take him to his home in Butwal,” SP Rathour told Onlinekhabar.

Sudip, 27, had left from Butwal on Saturday along with his mother Rimakala, sister Sushma, and brother-in-law Yuvraj Kafle, with the aim of playing in the snow and exploring the Baisaran Valley in Kashmir, also known as the “Mini Switzerland.”

While they were enjoying their visit there, armed terrorists suddenly opened fire on Tuesday afternoon, killing Sudip. His mother Rimakala, sister, and brother-in-law, who were with him, managed to escape and save their lives.

While fleeing, Rimakala sustained minor injuries. Along with Sudip’s body, his mother, sister, and brother-in-law have also returned to Rupandehi. At least 26 people were killed in the terrorist attack, including two foreign nationals.

Sudip’s uncle, Dadhiram Neupane, who is also the Ward Chairperson of Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City-14, said that Sudip’s body would be taken from Belahiya to their home in Butwal-11, Mankamanapath.

After his parents’ separation, Sudip had been living with his mother and sister in Kalikanagar, Butwal-11. Prior to that, they lived in Belbariya, Butwal-14. His ancestral home, however, is in Ward No. 4 of Baganasakali Rural Municipality in Palpa.

Sudip’s father, Dhruva Neupane, who is involved in the teaching profession, was in Kathmandu participating in a teachers’ protest. He learned the tragic news about his son on Tuesday while returning home.
