Conducting the program, Rajdal Battalion Military Officer Prakash KC said that Army Day is celebrated every year on Mahashivaratri as a symbolic day of renewed energy, enthusiasm, and organizational resolve, while remaining committed to patriotism, service to the citizens, and one’s professional integrity.
He informed that while celebrating the foundation day of the Nepali Army, which has been organized and strengthened with the unification of Nepal, the Nepali Army is confident that today’s joint band performance will strengthen diplomatic relations with friendly countries and provide additional energy and encouragement to fulfill its responsibilities in an even better manner as per the expectations of the nation.
“It is the duty of the Nepali Army to protect Nepal’s freedom, sovereignty, geographical integrity, independence and national unity. The army, which has gone through an institutional life of more than 260 years in its modern form, is celebrating the day by taking its contribution to national service as an organizational pride. At this moment, the great military warriors who sacrificed their lives for their duty and loyalty are remembered,” he said.
The foundation of the existing permanent structure of the Nepali Army was laid when the nation-builder Prithvi Narayan Shah established five companies – Srinath, Kalibox, Bardwani, Sabuj and Purano Gorakh – in 1819 BS. Since then, the Nepali Army has been celebrating ‘Army Day’ on the occasion of its anniversary, remembering the unwavering service, sacrifice and dedication of its ancestors.
The joint ‘Band Display’ exhibition, which began with the national anthem of Nepal, featured performances by the friendly countries of India, the United States of America, the United Kingdom and the Nepali Army Band. This was followed by a musical performance by young teenagers according to local culture. Finally, the military anthem Rato and Chandra Surya was performed by the Nepali Army Army Band.
