Damauli (Tanahun), Ashoj 21 (Oct 7): With the beginning of Dasain, the movement of domestic tourists has increased in Manungkot, a tourist spot in Tanahun. From Manungkot, which is located in Byas Municipality-5, domestic tourists are coming here everyday for sightseeing.
Chudamani Dahal, a hotel businessman, said that domestic tourists come to stay at night to watch the sunrise and fog in the morning. He informed that there are more tourists here on Friday and Saturday compared to other days. He said, “After Dasai, the number of tourists coming here has increased. As schools and offices are closed during Dasain, domestic tourists have started to increase. We expect the arrival of tourists to increase further from Saptami under Durga Paksha.
Local Anil Adhikari said that tourists are lured by the sunrise and fog seen from here in the morning. He said, “those who have come once to see the beautiful sight of Damauli market covered with thick fog keep coming back again.” Manoj Raut of Vyas-4, who visited Manungkot, said that he was fascinated by the view of fog, sunrise and the snow range seen from here. He said, “This place has become popular since the time of Corona. It is necessary to promote tourism here and bring in more tourists by connecting it with local income.”
After the increase in the number of tourists in Manungkot, new and modern hotels have started operating here. More than a dozen hotels are operating in this place where there was not one in the past. Beas Municipality has built a viewing column for visual observation, while railings have been constructed and arranged on the side of the hill for safety. A footpath has recently been constructed along the railing.
From Manungkot, you can see Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchche, Annapurna, Manaslu, Lamjung mountains. After the increase of domestic tourists coming here, even those who left the village and moved to the city have returned and started doing business. Earlier, the locals had left the village due to lack of drinking water. Treated water from market jars and tankers is now providing an alternative to water in Manungkot. The road to Manungkot has been blacked out. The road leading to Manungkot has been paved with the financial investment of the Ministry of Urban Development. Dahal, a hotelier, said that the 4,300-meter road from Alainche to Manungkot is black. According to him, 180 meters of RCC has been sloped in the places where it is difficult to make black sheets.
