Kathmandu, 21 Oct: Prime Minister Sushila Karki today held discussions for over four hours with the injured of the Gen z movement at Baluwatar. The talks, which began at 10:30 AM, have now concluded. The injured advised the government to take a stern stance against the corrupt and the oppressive. They warned that if action is not taken against the corrupt, they will take to the streets and launch another movement. A group of 18 people, led by the injured Rupin Khadka, demanded that the government born from the revolution must take revolutionary steps.
Injured Question Delays, PM Assures Process-Led Action
Speaking on behalf of the injured, Khadka said, “What is preventing the immediate arrest of those against whom we led the movement? Did rules prevent it, or did laws and the constitution? Wherever the obstacle is, let’s start by removing it from there.” Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal informed them about the progress in the investigations into corruption and the suppression during the movement. The injured representatives questioned, “You keep talking only about elections. Did this government come just to postpone the 2084 election to 2082?” The talks were also attended by Energy Minister Kulman Ghising, Education Minister Mahavir Pun, and Communication Minister Jagdish Kharel.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Karki said, “We will not deviate from the core spirit of the Gen z movement. We work in a process-compliant manner, legally, without overstepping. We proceed according to the mandate given to us. There will be elections, and there will also be corruption investigations. The established bodies of the state are investigating corruption at a rapid pace.” The Prime Minister urged the Gen z leadership not to be impatient as work is happening from respective positions. “Do not stop speaking up. Also, do not stop pressuring us. You will see, results will come now. You must have heard what various people are saying outside once they are under investigation,” she said.
The injured expressed concern that some accused individuals were trying to flee and hide unaccounted property. Home Minister Aryal stated that those trying to flee or hide are now reaching a point where they cannot escape and are starting to appear saying ‘I am in Nepal.’
