Urges to advance the cable car construction process through dialogue and cooperation

Taplejung, 11 February: Stakeholders have emphasized that the cable car construction process in the Pathibhara Dham area, a famous pilgrimage site in Taplejung, should be made environmentally friendly.

At a press conference organized by Phungling Municipality on Monday, local people’s representatives and representatives of various organizations emphasized the need to create an environment for the construction of the cable car through dialogue, dialogue and collaboration.

Mayor Amir Maden said that the cable car is indispensable for the overall development of Taplejung and stressed that the existing problems should be resolved through discussion and cooperation. He said that the cable car will not only be limited to the convenience of pilgrims coming to Pathibhara, but will also create employment and help in promoting tourism.

Maden said that investors were encouraged as the city, as a local government, has the responsibility to increase the internal income of the locals, create jobs, and promote tourism. He urged the ‘No Cable Car’ group to come to a meaningful dialogue and contribute to the prosperity of the district. He urged the No Cable Car group to come to an agreement for future generations without obstructing the construction.

At a press conference, Taplejung Chamber of Commerce and Industry General Secretary Kamal Limbu said that there is a need for unanimity in the construction of the cable car. Stating that they are of the opinion that the cable car should be built, he urged the ‘No Cable Car’ group not to obstruct the development and construction.

Speakers including Khadga Bikram Subedi, Chairperson of the Federation of Non-Governmental Organizations, Santosh Chamling, District Secretary of the Nepal Communist Party (UML), Arjun Karki of the Christian Society, emphasized the need to unite in development by resolving existing problems and disputes through discussion and dialogue.

Ward chairmen of various wards under Phungling Municipality, including Mohan Neupane, Tanka Palungwa, Durga Prasad Palungwa, Madan Gurung, Yogendra Prasad Niraula, Laxman Gurung, Yubaraj Bhattarai, and other local people’s representatives, emphasized the need to move forward the cable car construction process through consensus and negotiations.

There has been a lot of opposition to the construction of a cable car in the Pathibhara area recently. Organizations including the Mukumlung Conservation Joint Struggle Committee and the Cable Car Abolition Struggle Committee are opposing the construction of the cable car.

After previous talks and dialogues with the government failed to yield any results, the municipality held a press conference and urged the ‘No Cable Car’ group to create an environment for construction and engage in meaningful dialogue. The municipality has stated that it plans to move forward with the project on the basis of consensus through dialogue with various parties.
