US President Donald Trump has suggested the immediate evacuation of Iran’s capital Tehran amid the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict. He wrote on his Truth Social platform, “The agreement I mentioned earlier must be signed by Iran. But Iran has not agreed—this is very shameful and a waste of human lives.”
Trump has repeatedly warned against Iran having nuclear weapons and has now urged everyone to leave Tehran immediately.
Trump had gone to Canada to attend the G7 summit but is returning early. He says he is coming back due to the situation in the Middle East. Meanwhile, according to The New York Times, Trump is considering whether or not to attack Iran’s Fordow nuclear site.
This facility is located deep underground. Only the US has the capability to destroy it. Such a target can only be attacked using Massive Ordnance Penetrators (MOP), which are dropped from B-2 stealth bombers.
Reports suggest that if the US attacks this site, it would be considered a direct act of war against Iran. However, this news has been published as an analysis.
Iranian Civilians Fleeing the City
Several people are fleeing from Iran’s capital, Tehran. Videos published in the media show long lines of civilians leaving the city on the roads.
According to the Associated Press (AP), after Iran’s airspace was closed and taxis became unavailable, many people have been unable to reach border areas. Meanwhile, Israel has advised its citizens to leave the country via Jordan and Egypt, though these countries are considered potentially dangerous for Jews.
So far, reports indicate that 24 people have died in Israel due to Iranian attacks, while 224 have been killed in Israeli strikes in Iran.
In a related development, Israel claims it carried out a strike on Iran’s nuclear facility on Tuesday morning. Media reports mention hearing a loud explosion in the nuclear area.
