US President Donald Trump has announced that negotiations between the United States and the Palestinian Islamic group Hamas aimed at ending the war in the Gaza Strip and securing the release of hostages are making swift progress.
In a post on social media, Trump stated that the talks were proceeding successfully and had moved forward more rapidly than expected. He added that a technical team is scheduled to meet again in Egypt on Monday to finalize the agreement. The first phase of the accord is expected to begin later this week. The president urged all parties to act swiftly to end the suffering and achieve lasting peace in the region.
Trump welcomed Hamas’s response to the proposed peace plan, saying the agreement being developed between Israel and Hamas represents a “major breakthrough” for Israel. According to him, the 20-point US proposal includes key provisions such as ending hostilities, the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza, and the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.
The US president reaffirmed that his plan seeks to end the long-standing conflict and restore stability to the region. However, he also warned that if Hamas refuses to relinquish power and transfer control of Gaza, it would face total eradication.
Regional and International Efforts Toward a Lasting Peace
The negotiation process has advanced following extensive diplomatic efforts led by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States. These talks aim not only to bring an end to the ongoing war but also to pave the way for Gaza’s reconstruction and ensure long-term humanitarian and political stability in the territory.
The proposed agreement marks one of the most significant moves toward peace in Gaza in recent years, raising cautious optimism among regional observers. If finalized, it could lead to the first comprehensive ceasefire in months, opening doors for rebuilding efforts and renewed dialogue on a two-state solution.
Trump emphasized that the world must seize this opportunity to bring lasting peace to the Middle East, declaring, “It’s time to end the suffering and start a new chapter of stability and hope for both Israelis and Palestinians.”
