Tribute to Rai by President Dahal

Kathmandu, 24 November: Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachand’ has paid his respects by covering the body of party central member Padma Bahadur Rai with the party flag. He expressed his respect by covering the body of central member Rai, which is kept in the central office premises of the party office Parisdanda.

On that occasion, Vice Presidents Agni Prasad Sapkota and Pampha Bhusal, former Speaker Onsari Gharti, former Ministers, MPs, party leaders and activists paid tribute to him. He was born on December 30, 1966 in Boya to Lal Bahadur Rai and Daulati Rai of Shadananda municipality, Bhojpur,died in age of 58 years old.

Rai, who entered politics from 1989 from Aneraswaviyu 6th, became a local unit member in 1990 and became a member of Sunsari and Morang districts, Bhojpur district secretary, Bhojpur-Tehrathum-Sangkhuwasabha in-charge, brigade commissar of People’s Liberation army and a member of the party central and held the responsibilities of politburo.

In the year 2006, he was a member of the Interim Legislative Parliament and also the Minister of State for Physical Planning. He was elected from Bhojpur region no. The CPN (Maoist Center) paid tribute to his death and expressed condolences to the bereaved family members.

In the condolence statement issued by the party president Dahal, he stated that the death of central member Rai has caused irreparable damage to the communist movement and called upon the general party ranks and masses to turn grief into strength. According to the party, he will be cremated today at the electric crematorium in Pashupati. He has a wife, a son and a daughter.
