Rural municipality takes strict measures to preserve the originality of Bandipur

Damauli (Tanahun), 24th Magh: The local level has started taking strict measures to preserve the originality and beauty of Bandipur Bazaar, known as the Queen of the Mountains. As development activities and construction of public and private infrastructure increase, it is everyone’s responsibility to maintain the historical identity of the market, says Surendra Bahadur Thapa, Chairman of Bandipur Rural Municipality.

He said that for the beauty of the place, it has been requested to keep the outer corridors of houses open and not to place goods in front of commercial buildings and shops. “There is a problem with businessmen doing business in the public area in front of the shop, placing tables and chairs. Therefore, arrangements have been made to allow only a maximum of one table and three chairs,” said Chairman Thapa. “A rule has been implemented to prevent businessmen from selling and distributing goods outside the shop and to make it mandatory for customers to keep price lists visible. It has been decided to immediately remove the ‘flex boards’ used for commercial purposes in the market area and replace them with wooden or handwritten boards.”

It has been strictly prohibited to consume alcohol and smoke on tables and chairs outside the market area. To implement this decision, a joint team of the rural municipality chairman, vice-chairman, revenue chief Dinesh Poudel, representatives of political parties, police and journalists has started monitoring the market. During the recent monitoring, businessmen have been urged to follow the rules and have been warned that legal action will be taken if the rules are violated.

Chairman Thapa said that if anyone is found violating the rules, a fine of up to Rs. 5,000 will be imposed. Houses built in the Bhaktapure style, Tundikhel, Thanimai, Tindhara, Raniban, Ramkot, Sunkhari, Khaddevi Temple, Vindhyavasini Temple, Mahalakshmi Temple, Information Center and other places are centers of attraction for tourists visiting here.
