Recruitment Open for 139,000 Election Police Personnel

Kathmandu, 9 Jan: Nepal Police Calls for Recruitment of 133,980 Temporary Police Personnel for Upcoming House of Representatives Election

Nepal Police has announced the recruitment of 133,980 temporary election police personnel (Myadi Police) for the upcoming election of members of the House of Representatives.

Issuing a public notice on Thursday, the Police Headquarters informed that interested and eligible candidates are invited to participate in the recruitment process.

Applications for election police can be submitted at all 77 District Police Offices from Poush 25 to Magh 1. According to the Police Headquarters, applicants must have completed 18 years of age and not exceeded 54 years by the final date of application submission.

Eligible candidates must be Nepali citizens, possess basic literacy skills, have no criminal convictions involving moral turpitude, not be members of any political party at the time of recruitment, be physically and mentally fit, and must not be affiliated with any terrorist or destructive organizations, informed Central Police Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General Abinarayan Kafle.

The Police Headquarters stated that retired personnel from the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force Nepal, former forest guards, as well as individuals who have applied for various security positions from last Magh to the end of this Poush and have passed physical fitness and medical examinations, will be selected as election police.

Similarly, individuals who previously served satisfactorily as temporary police personnel in past House of Representatives, Provincial Assembly, and local level elections, as well as Nepali citizens retired from foreign friendly nations’ security agencies, will also be considered for selection, DIG Kafle said.

According to him, preliminary selection will be conducted from Magh 5 to Magh 9, while the final results will published on Magh 12. Training and orientation for the election police will be provided from Magh 15 to Magh 24.

The service period of election police will be 40 days from the date of appointment or as determined by the Government of Nepal. The notice states that the service duration may be adjusted depending on the election schedule.

The Government of Nepal has already approved the Unified Procedure 2082 related to the recruitment, selection, appointment, and mobilization of election police under Nepal Police and Armed Police Force Nepal.

Facilities and Allowances for Election Police

Election police personnel will receive NPR 869.40 per day, equivalent to the starting salary scale of a Nepal Police constable, amounting to NPR 34,776 for 40 days.

Additionally, food allowance for 40 days will be deposited into each election police personnel’s personal bank account at the same rate received by Nepal Police personnel in the respective district.

Each election police personnel will receive a one-time preparation allowance of NPR 846 to cover travel and preparation expenses.

A snack allowance of NPR 300 per day for four days, totaling NPR 1,200, will also be provided.

Election police personnel will also receive a uniform allowance as determined by the Police Headquarters.

In case of injury during duty, the individual, and in case of death, the nearest legal heir, will receive compensation as prescribed by the Government of Nepal.
