Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal (RPP-N) Chairman Kamal Thapa Arrested

Kathmandu, 01 June: Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal (RPP-N) Chairman Kamal Thapa has been taken into custody by the police. He was arrested on Sunday during a pro-monarchy protest held in the Narayan Chaur area.

While moving from Narayan Chaur towards Baluwatar, the police intervened. During the intervention, Chairman Thapa along with several others were arrested.

Pro-monarchy supporters have been staging protests against the current system since Thursday.

After Kamal Thapa’s arrest, Chairman Lingden issues warning: “The real battle begins tomorrow.”

Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden has demanded the respectful release of RPP Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa. Thapa was taken into custody by the police today during a protest in Kathmandu, from Narayan Chaur in Naxal.

Chairman Rajendra Lingden warned that if Kamal Thapa is not released, Kathmandu will be shut down starting tomorrow and party supporters from across the country will be mobilized.

Addressing the protest, Chairman Lingden said, “Now we will call our friends from all over the country. The real battle begins tomorrow.”

He further warned the government that protests would erupt from 50 different locations instead of gathering in a single place, asking, “Where will you stop us?”

“If Kamal Thapa is not brought here and respectfully released, a shutdown of the Kathmandu Valley will begin from tomorrow,” Lingden warned.

The royalists have begun a sit-in protest, demanding the release of all those who were arrested

The royalists have begun a sit-in protest demanding the restoration of the monarchy and the declaration of Nepal as a Hindu state. The protest was sparked by the arrest of Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal (RPP-N) Chairman Kamal Thapa and four others, who were detained by police while heading from Narayan Chaur to Baluwatar.

Following Thapa’s arrest, demonstrators immediately launched the sit-in. RPP spokesperson Mohan Shrestha stated that the protest demands the prompt release of all those detained on Sunday.

“We’ve started a sit-in. If they are not released immediately, we will escalate the movement,” said Shrestha.
