Kathmandu, January 11: President Ram Chandra Poudel has said that the precepts (divyapadesh) of Prithvi Narayan Shah, the leader of the Nepal unification campaign, are a guide for building the economy, patriotism, and diplomatic relations with neighboring countries.
Issuing a message today on the occasion of National Unity Day, he clarified that we should not forget the contributions made by many of our ancestors in bringing Nepal, which is scattered across small states, to its current state.
“It is because of Prithvi Narayan Shah’s unification of the scattered states into small pieces and the continuation of that campaign by our brave ancestors in various periods of history that we are proud to be a sovereign and independent Nepal today,” President Paudel said in his message. “Based on this foundation, we have declared Nepal as an independent, indivisible, sovereign, secular, inclusive, democratic, socialist-oriented federal democratic republican state. We must not forget the contribution of many of our ancestors in bringing Nepal, which was scattered into small states, to its present state.”
Emphasizing that while remembering Prithvi Narayan Shah, one should also remember his Divyapadesh (precept), President Paudel has said that popular and relevant precepts serve as a guide in building the economy, patriotism, and diplomatic relations with neighboring countries.
“May this occasion of National Unity Day inspire everyone to achieve the happiness and prosperity of the people while keeping our country’s independence, sovereignty, geographical integrity, and national unity intact,” President Poudel said. “On the occasion of the 303rd birth anniversary of Prithvi Narayan Shah, the leader of the Nepal Unification Campaign, and National Unity Day, I pay my heartfelt tributes to him and extend my best wishes to all my sisters and brothers at home and abroad.”
