Kathmandu, 30 Aug: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has left for China on Saturday on an official visit. Prime Minister Oli will leave for China on Saturday morning for a five-day visit at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that he is scheduled to formally participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit 2025.
Prime Minister Oli was seen off at the VIP lounge of Tribhuvan International Airport by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development Prakash Man Singh, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, and Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal.
According to the ministry, during the visit, Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to meet with President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping in Tianjin. It is reported that Prime Minister Oli will address the Shanghai Summit to be held in Tianjin on September 1 and meet with heads of state and government of the world on the occasion of the summit.
High-ranking officials of the Nepalese government, the heads of the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force Nepal, and the National Investigation Department, as well as representatives of the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, had arrived at the airport to see off the Prime Minister. Earlier, a contingent of the Nepali Army had presented a guard of honor in his honor.

The ministry has stated that Prime Minister Oli will be accompanied by his wife Radhika Shakya, Minister for Education, Science and Technology Raghuji Pant, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey, Nepali Congress MP Purna Bahadur Khadka, Economic and Development Advisor to the Prime Minister Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada, CPN (UML) MP Chhabilal Bishwakarma and high-level government officials. Prime Minister Oli will return home on Bhadra 18.
Prime Minister Oli will participate in the summit and the 80th anniversary of the victory of China’s People’s War against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. He will address the summit to be held in Tiananmen on September 1. On the occasion, Prime Minister Oli will meet with some of the world leaders participating in the summit. So far, it has been scheduled to meet with the heads of state / government of China and Russia, as well as Vietnam, Maldives, Laos, and Cambodia.
