Kathmandu, 23 Sep: Prime Minister Balendra Shah has departed for New York, the United States, leading a Nepali delegation to participate in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Prime Minister Shah left Tribhuvan International Airport this evening aboard a Qatar Airways flight, travelling to New York via Doha, Qatar, according to his Press and Research Adviser Deepa Dahal.
Prime Minister Shah will be welcomed at Hamad International Airport in Doha by Nepal’s Acting Ambassador to Qatar Kumar Rai and senior officials of the Nepali Embassy.
According to the schedule, Prime Minister Shah will depart Doha for New York at 1:45 a.m. local time on Wednesday. Upon his arrival at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, he will be received by Nepal’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Lok Bahadur Thapa, Nepal’s Acting Ambassador to the United States Sharad Raj Aran and other officials.
On the same day, Prime Minister Shah will visit the Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations. He will receive a briefing on his visit from the Foreign Secretary, Nepal’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Nepal’s Acting Ambassador to the United States and Nepal’s Consul General in New York.
Immediately afterward, Prime Minister Shah is scheduled to attend a reception organized in his honor by the Permanent Representatives of Nepal.
On September 24, Prime Minister Shah will hold a meeting with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. Following the meeting, he will address the United Nations General Assembly on behalf of Nepal.
On September 25, Prime Minister Shah will depart New York for Doha. He will be seen off at John F. Kennedy International Airport by Nepal’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Lok Bahadur Thapa, Acting Ambassador Sharad Raj Aran and other officials.
Prime Minister Shah is scheduled to return to Nepal on September 26.
