Kathmandu, March 8: President Ram Chandra Poudel has said that the proportional inclusion principle adopted by the constitution has proven to be a milestone in establishing meaningful representation and leadership of women in the political, social, economic, cultural and educational sectors.
While delivering a message of greetings on the occasion of International Women’s Day, he said, “I have realized that in order to achieve the objective of gender equality and women’s empowerment, equal access of women to every sector of the state, such as education, health, employment, policy making and decision-making process, and politics, must be ensured.”
The President said that it is necessary to organize more effective and creative programs to eradicate such practices, which are increasing incidents of physical and mental violence against adolescent girls due to bad practices and customs in the name of tradition.
President Poudel has mentioned in his message that if women, who constitute half of the population, are empowered, the entire family, society, and the entire nation will move forward on the path of prosperity, and it is necessary to pay special attention to this.
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, he has called on all concerned to contribute from their respective fields to the work of ending all forms of violence, discrimination and oppression against women. On the auspicious occasion of the 115th International Women’s Day, the President has expressed his best wishes for happiness, peace and prosperity to all Nepali sisters, women’s rights activists and all those active in the field of protection and promotion of women’s rights, both at home and abroad.
The President said in the message, “I hope that this day will provide all of us with additional energy, enthusiasm, and inspiration to work with full sensitivity towards women’s rights, entitlements, equality, empowerment, and respect.”

This year, the United Nations has set the motto for International Women’s Day as ‘For all women and girls: rights, equality and empowerment’. International Women’s Day is celebrated with the objectives of commemorating the economic, political, and social achievements of women working in various fields around the world, expanding women’s access to technology, enhancing women’s empowerment, eliminating gender inequality and violence, and making women educated, self-reliant, and properly respected.
