Taksar (Bhojpur), 28 Bhadra (13 Sep): Bhojpur municipality-12, the only airport in the district in Taksar has been blacklisted. The road leading from the headquarters to the airport has also been blacked out. However, there are currently only two flights a week at this airport. The airport, which was completed in 2035, used to have flights seven days a week. At one time there were flights from here to Biratnagar as well, but now Bhojpur-Kathmandu flights are being operated only on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Although there is no problem with the physical infrastructure, there is a problem with the flight. According to Prakash Khadka, head of Nepal Airlines Corporation Bhojpur, the flights should be sent from the center according to the schedule, currently there are only two flights per week in Bhojpur. At Bhojpur airport, only government flag carrier aircrafts are flying. This problem appeared when the corporation sent a low flight schedule showing the lack of aircraft. Passengers going to Kathmandu from Bhojpur are getting hit as there are fewer flights. “When there was grassland, there were regular flights in Bhojpur, after the airport and the road were blacked out, the flight schedule has also become shorter”, said Sanjeev Karki, a local. After the complaint that there was a problem when the terminal building was dilapidated, the budget was allocated on the initiative of former minister Sudan Kirati, and currently RB Urban Builders and Suppliers is constructing the terminal building of the airport through the contract process. The terminal building, which has a cost contract of Rs 5.45 million, is currently being worked on to complete the construction by January 2081. Local Ghamchandra Dahal said that it is unfortunate for the district that the flight schedule could not be increased even though crores of money had been spent for the airport. The road from Bhojpur headquarters to Taksar Airport is black. The first asphalt (mixed) technology in the district was paved through the Infrastructure Development Office at a cost of Rs. 169.2 million. The length of the road constructed by Rayamazhi-Jagdamba-Marseille JV is five kilometers. The residents of the district demand that the political parties and leaders of the district should arrange regular flights and private companies to fly to Bhojpur. District resident Krishnamaya Tamang said, “The residents of the district should also get services according to the budget expenditure, and the leaders should also be responsible for this”. –––
