Pakistan has carried out drone and missile attacks for the second day in a row. According to Indian media reports, drone strikes targeted 11 cities across three Indian states on Thursday.
In Jammu and Kashmir, the targeted areas included Jammu, Samba, Keran, Tangdhar, Karnah, Akhnoor, RS Pura Sector, and Arnia. Similarly, Pathankot in Punjab and Jaisalmer and Pokhran in Rajasthan were also reportedly targeted by Pakistani drones.
It has been claimed that Pakistani drones aimed at the Jammu airport and the Pathankot Air Force Station, but the Indian air defense systems successfully intercepted and neutralized them. Pakistan also launched drone attacks in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Authorities have imposed blackouts in all border districts of Rajasthan.
Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, and Rajasthan have been placed on high alert. Cities like Jalandhar and Amritsar in Punjab are under complete blackout, as are Bikaner and Sri Ganganagar.
India’s Strikes: Operation Sindoor
On May 7, India launched “Operation Sindoor,” a series of air and missile strikes targeting alleged terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The operation reportedly targeted nine sites, including locations in Bahawalpur, Muridke, and Muzaffarabad, which are linked to groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). India claims that the strikes were in retaliation for a deadly attack on April 22 in Indian-administered Kashmir, where 26 Hindu tourists were killed. According to Indian officials, the strikes resulted in the deaths of over 100 militants.
International Reactions
The international community has expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions. The United States has urged both nations to exercise restraint, with Vice President JD Vance stating that the U.S. will not intervene militarily, emphasizing the need for diplomatic solutions. Other countries, including members of the European Union and neighboring nations, have also called for de-escalation and dialogue to prevent further conflict.
The situation remains volatile, with both India and Pakistan on high alert. The risk of further escalation persists, and the international community continues to monitor developments closely.
