Lokmani Rijal, Japan – The NRNA Regional Committee of Tochigi, Japan, is set to organize the first-ever historic Nepal Festival on June 21. The event will be held under the main theme: “In Honor of Nepal-Japan Friendship, and the Exchange of Language, Art, and Culture.”
The aim of the festival is to promote Nepal’s language, art, culture, customs, cuisine, and traditional attire among the Japanese and international communities, thereby contributing to Nepal’s tourism promotion and strengthening Nepal-Japan relations. According to Santosh Ghimire, the regional coordinator of NRNA Tochigi, the event will take place at Lightcube, Utsunomiya.
The festival will be held with His Excellency Dr. Durga Bahadur Subedi, Nepal’s Ambassador to Japan, as the chief guest. Various departments have been formed and preparations are underway. Just yesterday, on Wednesday, Ambassador Dr. Subedi, NRNA Japan President Nabin Niure, Vice Presidents Siddhartha Shrestha and Subash Lamichhane, Sachin Shrestha, General Secretary Tika Ram Kharel, and others jointly unveiled the event’s banner and flyers, as informed by program coordinator and acting secretary of NRNA Tochigi, Mansudhan Banshi.
The festival will feature 13 food stalls showcasing a variety of Nepali and Japanese cuisine, as well as exhibitions of traditional musical instruments, clothing, dances, and other literary and musical performances. SBI Remit and Everest Company Ltd. are the event’s main sponsors.
Special guests will include the Governor of Tochigi Prefecture, NRNA ICC members, the President of NRNA Japan, and the Mayor of Utsunomiya City. Since this is the first festival representing the entire Nepali community, Banshi has called on all regional chapters of NRNA Japan, the Nepali diaspora, and international communities to participate and support the event—morally, physically, and financially.
According to Coordinator Ghimire, the festival will also include honoring ceremonies to recognize contributions of organizations and individuals who have supported Nepali immigrants, including representatives from the Nepalese Embassy, Tochigi Prefecture, Utsunomiya Municipality, and various other associations.
The festival is primarily organized by Tabuata Volunteer GSG of Tochigi, with support from the Nepalese Embassy in Japan, NRNA Japan, Tochigi International Association, Utsunomiya City, Utsunomiya City International Association, Utsunomiya Nepali Society, Dolps Group, Team Tomodachi, RD Group, Tochigi Nepali Community, and Sangsangai.
