Kathmandu, 8 Jun: The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has established its 91st National Coordination Council (NCC) in Colombia. According to Ved Basnet, the Regional Coordinator for the Americas, the ad hoc committee formed in Colombia was officially recognized during the federal executive meeting held on Sunday.
Chhatra Bahadur Mainali has been appointed as the President of the ad hoc committee in Colombia. Lal Bahadur Gurung is the Vice President, Sundar Tamang the General Secretary, Dhan Bahadur Tamang the Secretary, Prem Bahadur Chhetri the Deputy Secretary, and Mithun Thapa the Treasurer. The members include Jit Bahadur Gurung, Kamal Sharma, and Prabina Rai as the female member. Similarly, Harkaram Gurung and Umesh Thapa have been appointed as members of the advisory committee.
Meanwhile, the previously established NRNA Brazil chapter has been reorganized with the formation of a new ad hoc committee. Sandesh Lamichhane has been appointed as the new Coordinator. Sahas Chaudhary is the Vice President, Krishna Maski the General Secretary, Shankar Baskota the Secretary, Hari Krishna Regmi the Deputy Secretary, and Babita Gurung the Treasurer.
Other committee members include Rita Kumari Gole, Pradeep Chaudhary, and Tara Gaire as the female member. Dr. Krishna Pathak and Ram Basnet have been appointed as advisors.
According to Regional Coordinator Basnet, the newly formed committees in both countries are expected to further organize the local Nepali communities, implement the organization’s policies and programs, and make the NRNA movement more effective.
He further stated that only after obtaining membership under the association’s central membership system (NIS) by July, will the newly formed committees be eligible to participate in the 12th General Assembly of the association scheduled for October. Prior to this, NRNA had established its 90th National Coordination Council in Iceland.
