Nagarkot Visit Year starts today

Bhaktapur, 14 April (1 Baishakh 2082) : ‘Visit Nagarkot Year-2082’ has begun from today. The visit year has begun in Nagarkot from today on the occasion of Nepali New Year.

According to Changunarayan Municipality Mayor Jeevan Khatri, the Visit Year has been jointly organized by Changunarayan, Mandandeupur, Banepa and Shankharapur municipalities. Various cultural programs, tableaux and rallies have been displayed on the first day today. Various cultural programs are also being presented. Thousands of tourists had reached Nagarkot on Sunday to welcome the first sunrise of the new year.

“We have organized the festival with the aim of attracting millions of tourists to Nagarkot,” said Mayor Khatri. 60 booths of domestic products have been set up here. He said that the Visit Year will help in the economic development of not only Nagarkot but also the country. During the Visit Year, joint programs focused on Nagarkot will be conducted by all four municipalities throughout the year, and various programs will be organized at the ward level as well.

Arrangements have been made to accommodate tourists coming during the visit year in hotels and homes in Nagarkot, Bhaktapur, Mandan Deupur in Kavrepalanchok, Banepa, and Shankharapur municipalities in Kathmandu. All roads leading to Nagarkot have been upgraded, making it easy to reach Nagarkot from all four municipalities, and a direct Kathmandu-Nagarkot bus service has been operated.

Chanhesia festival concludes

The residents of Madhyapur Thimi have celebrated the Chanhesiya Jatra. The Chanhesiya Jatra was started by taking the Balkumari from the Laiku Durbar in Thimi to the Balkumari Temple and enthroning it. In the Chanhesiya Jatra, first the Digubhairav ​​from Digutol is brought to the Laiku from the house of the Achaju Karmacharya, then the Balkumari from Taleju is brought in a dhakhi, covered with a cloth, and brought in front of the Laiku for the Jatra. After that, the Balkumari is placed on a khat and enthroned in the Balkumari Temple.

In the procession, after lighting thousands of lamps and playing Dhimaya, the deities of Dakshinbarahi, Harisiddhi and Ajima were brought from most of the Thimi houses, and then they were taken around the Dakshinbarahi temple in Kwachhen via Shankhadhar Chowk from Balkumari. After that, they were taken around the Tachhutol and Bishnubir temples and brought to the Balkumari temple. After taking them around the temple five times, they were placed in their respective seats at the same place and the procession was concluded. The procession, which began on Sunday night, concluded this morning.

Similarly, the famous Charkhandi Temple, located at the junction of Dadhikot and Sirutar in Suryabinayak Municipality-1, has been inundated with devotees since this morning. Cultural expert Ratna Sayami said that it is believed that if one bathes in the tank of Charkhandi Mahadev Temple and worships Lord Shiva, all the diseases of the body will be cured and the work done will be successful.

According to legend, a sparrow killed by a hunter was revived by divine power when it was submerged in the Charkhandi pond. According to the elders, bathing in the pond here cures skin diseases including scabies, spots and other skin diseases. Today, there has been a rush to bathe in the pond here since morning. A Khat Jatra with three Khats has been celebrated in the temple since this morning by taking a tour of various areas here.

Similarly, the Ganesh Jatra is celebrated at the Purna Vinayak Ganesh temple in Chitrapur, Dadhikot, and the Gupteshwor Mahadev temple in Sirutar by carrying the khat on which the deity is seated, wearing vermilion, and carrying it around the streets. Prakash Shrestha of Sirutar informed that the residents of Sirutar carried the khat and celebrated the jatra by going around Sirutar and Balakot. The residents here worshipped Ganesh and offered sacrifices.
