Damauli (Tanahun), 22 November: As part of the Muglin-Pokhara road expansion plan, the eastern section of Tanahun is being laid in full swing. Ambukhaireni rural municipality-2 from Markichoke to 1700 sections, the black paper continues.
According to Bishnu Prasad Pandey, Engineer of Muglin-Pokhara Road Plan (Eastern Section), the last phase of pitch has been started at the place where one level of pitching has already been done. So far, two and a half kilometers of pitch has been completed. There are 63 kilometers of pitch under the eastern section. Out of that, 29 km section has four lanes and 5 km section has two lanes.
Engineer Pandey said that under the eastern section, stretch will be laid from Buldipool in Damauli to Ghansikuwa area in a few days. Road extension is being constructed in Damauli Bazar. So far, 68 percent progress has been made on the eastern section of this road. 14 small bridges have been built in it. This section is being constructed at a cost of Rs 6 billion 21 crore 31 lakh 13 thousand.
The construction of the Muglin-Pokhara road upgrade project in Nepal officially started in 2020. This project aims to expand the existing two-lane highway to a four-lane highway along the 81-kilometer stretch. It is part of a broader effort to improve connectivity and transportation infrastructure in Nepal.
The project is funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of Nepal, and it includes road widening, construction of drainage systems, slope protection measures, and other safety features. Completion has faced delays due to challenges like land acquisition, environmental concerns, and disruptions such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
