Making a film about sexual health called ‘Sad Soul’

Kathmandu, 19 January: Director Dipendra Lama has produced the film ‘Dukhi Atma’ on the topic of sexual health. During the promotion of the film, which will be released to the public from February 20, director Lama informed that he made the film after feeling that the topic of sexual health should be included in the film.

He said, “I raise social issues through my films. Although many films have been made abroad on the subject of sexual health, none have been made in Nepal. That is why I have made this film.” Director Lama said that although the subject matter sounds a bit serious, the presentation is entertaining. The public audio (teaser) of the film and the ‘Breakup Poem’ are currently in the news. Its promotional style is seen to be different from other films. Director Lama said that since the main character of the film is a poet, his presentation has been prepared in terms of literature.

“This is a story told from the psychology of a poet who is unmarried despite being past the age of marriage. We have shown in the film the events that arise due to the combination of risks and social fears that arise due to not being able to express the problem. Although this film is just for entertainment, it teaches something, you will definitely feel some difference when you watch it and return from the cinema hall,” said director Lama.

The film, which is called an ‘adult drama’, stars Dayahang Rai, Aanchal Sharma, Anup Bikram Shahi, Buddhi Tamang, Rare Rai, Pushkar Gurung, Kabita Ale, Lokendra Lekhak, Aarti Acharya, Ashant Sharma, Diya Maskey, Lunibha Tuladhar, Shishir Bangdel and others. Produced by Himal Kadariya, the film has cinematography by Alok Shukla and editing by Nimesh Shrestha.

Daai festival in Pokhara

A threshing festival is set to be held in Pokhara from today. The festival has been organized with the aim of introducing the new generation and foreign tourists to the traditional method of threshing the paddy planted in Ashar.

The festival, organized by the Pokhara Tourism Council with the slogan ‘Pokhara for all seasons’, will attract tourists even in the ‘off season’ and develop Pokhara as an attractive destination, the organizers have stated. The traditional Dain Festival, which will be held at the Fewa Field located at Margi-23, Pokhara Metropolitan City, aims to preserve it by involving tourists and youth, said Pokhara Tourism Council Chairman Taranath Pahari. According to him, tourists in Pokhara will be given a first-hand experience of Nepal’s traditional agricultural system and important festivals by participating in the program.

“With the increasing urbanization of Pokhara and the changing lifestyle of the locals, this festival will be established to pass down the traditional farming system from generation to generation,” he said.

The Pokhara Tourism Council has been organizing a planting festival every year in Asar to promote tourism by preserving cultivable land, keeping alive the tradition of eating Asare Bhaka and Dahi Chyura. The council’s general secretary, Jeevan Raj Sapkota, said that the first Dain festival will be successful in preserving the cultivable land within Pokhara Metropolitan City, which is experiencing a decline in production due to fragmentation.

The festival aims to promote domestic and foreign tourism in Pokhara and Gandaki Province, to inform that Pokhara is an excellent, all-weather, and easily accessible destination for foreign and domestic tourists, and to encourage farmers and motivate them towards their profession.
