Kathmandu, 20th January: Dolma Maya Gole, Vice-Chairperson of Mahakal Rural Municipality of Lalitpur, has been honored with the ‘International Women’s Leadership Award’. The award was presented to Vice-Chairperson Gole at a special ceremony organized by The International Awards Forum USA in New Delhi, India.
The rural municipality stated that the honor was bestowed upon Vice Chairman Gole for her contribution to the formulation of policies, programs, and budgets to solve the problems of women, children, and senior citizens, and the protection of agriculture, environment, and religion and culture while she was in charge of the local government.
The organizing organization has mentioned that Vice President Gole was honored in appreciation of her active role in the search, rescue and relief distribution of citizens affected by the floods and landslides following the incessant rains in the second week of Asoj. In the floods and landslides that accompanied the rains, 13 people died, one went missing and 300 families were displaced in Mahankal Rural Municipality alone.
The organization has been honoring individuals who have done outstanding work in the field of social service in the South Asian region in six different categories every year. This year, Vice President Gole from Nepal received the Women’s Leadership Award.
